Account Deletion & Archive Process for Laferla App

At Laferla, we respect your right to control your personal data — including the choice to close your account when you no longer need our services. This guide explains how you can request account deletion directly through the Laferla app, what to expect from the process, and how we handle your data after your account is closed.

While we are committed to giving you as much control as possible, we’re also a regulated financial institution. This means we are legally required to keep some of your personal information for a certain period of time— even after your account is deleted — to comply with our own legal obligations under local and EU laws.

How to Close Your Laferla Account

If you no longer wish to use your Laferla app account, you may request closure at any time through the app itself. Before initiating account deletion, please ensure you have downloaded and saved any important records or data that will no longer be accessible once your account is closed. This may include:

  1. Copies of your insurance policy documents

  2. Claims history and correspondence

  3. Payment receipts or tax documentation

  4. Identity verification or onboarding records

Once the account is closed, you will no longer be able to retrieve this data through the app or website.

Steps to Delete Your Account In-App

To delete your account:

  1. Open the Laferla App on your device.

  2. Navigate to Profile on top left corner

  3. Tap “Delete My Account”.

You will be prompted to:

  1. Confirm your identity (e.g. biometric or password confirmation).

  2. Review and accept the consequences of account deletion.

  3. Acknowledge that some data may be retained due to legal or regulatory obligations.

  1. Confirm deletion by tapping “Delete Account”.

Requesting Deletion of Personal Data

You may request deletion of your personal data under the GDPR if:

  1. We no longer need your data for its original purpose.

  2. You previously gave us consent and now withdraw it.

  3. You object to our use of your personal data.

  4. Your data has been processed unlawfully.

  5. The law requires us to delete it.

Please note, even in these cases, we may be unable to comply fully with your request if we are legally required to retain the data for reasons such as:

  1. Compliance with insurance and financial services regulation.

  2. Fraud detection and prevention.

  3. Statutory recordkeeping requirements in line with the relevant laws and regulations which may be applicable from time to time.

We will always explain the reasons if we cannot comply with a deletion request in full.
